Kate Kennedy led a pre-concert talk with Mark-Anthony Turnage prior to the world premiere of his new work, Col, written to commemorate the 70th birthday of fellow composer, Colin Matthews. Col was commissioned by Britten Sinfonia and Wigmore Hall which has been released as a podcast.
The world premiere of Col took place on Wednesday 8 February at Wigmore Hall in London with further performances at St Andrew’s Hall, Norwich on Friday 10 February 2017 and West Road Concert Hall, Cambridge on Tuesday 14 February 2017 as part of Britten Sinfonia’s At Lunch series.
The commission was made possible by the generosity of donors to Britten Sinfonia’s Musically Gifted scheme.
