The premiere recording of James MacMillan’s Stabat Mater with The Sixteen and ConNotations with Mei Yi Foo are both released today (Friday 3 March 2017).
MacMillan’s new Stabat Mater was commissioned by the Genesis Foundation for Harry Christophers and The Sixteen. The work is performed by The Sixteen and Britten Sinfonia, in a continuation of their close relationship with MacMillan. and following the world premiere performance at the Barbican in October 2016. Released on The Sixteen’s own record label, Coro the recording is available to buy here.
ConNotations, released on Orchid Classics, features pianist Mei Yi Foo and Britten Sinfonia performing works by Saint-Saens, Berg and Shostakovich. Buy your copy via Amazon here.
