ACE National Portfolio 2018-2022 funding for Britten Sinfonia

Arts Council England funding

Britten Sinfonia is delighted to have retained Arts Council England National Portfolio funding for the next four years.

Chief Executive & Artistic Director David Butcher said;
“We welcome Arts Council England’s ongoing investment in our work as Britten Sinfonia approaches its 25th Birthday.  This funding enables us to take the very finest music to our resident cities in the East and South East of England, as well as to our London home, the Barbican, where the orchestra is as an Associate Ensemble. This support also allows us, as one of the world’s leading orchestras, to develop our busy national and international touring programme alongside our vital Creative Learning work.

Arts Council investment, coupled with strong support from trusts and individual givers, has helped Britten Sinfonia grow substantially in recent years, both artistically and commercially.  For every pound of subsidy, the orchestra generates a further three pounds.  In the last season, earned income was up by 30% on the previous year and audiences have increased to 42,000 people around the world and almost 6,000 people through our Creative Learning work. We are looking to the future with confidence, and will continue to be bold in our creative choices with the aim of performing outstanding, distinctive music for all.”
