Britten Sinfonia is thrilled to announce that iconic composer Steve Reich will visit Saffron Hall on Thursday 24 October during Britten Sinfonia’s performance of his new multimedia work (created in collaboration with visual artist Gerhard Richter and videographer Corinna Belz) in its only UK tour date outside of London. Steve Reich will give an exclusive interview to Angela Dixon, Chief Executive of Saffron Hall, from the stage about his new work as part of the event.
Reich/Richter is a cinematic exploration of music and art from two giants of contemporary culture: Steve Reich and Gerhard Richter. The new work will be heard at Saffron Hall alongside two of Reich’s most iconic later masterpieces, Pulse and Runner.
Saffron Hall is an award-winning concert hall built in the grounds of Saffron Walden County High School in Essex, where Britten Sinfonia has been Resident Orchestra since 2016. Saffron Hall is becoming a vibrant cultural centre for the region, offering outstanding artistic encounters in an expanding programme that weaves international artists together with local performance groups and learning and participation activities. The hall’s location within the County High allows it to be deeply involved in the life of the school, and to work closely both with its students and children from the surrounding primary schools.
