Summary

After a triumphant BBC Prom in 2020, Britten Sinfonia once again collaborates with Anoushka Shankar and Manu Delago for performances at the Llangollen and Cheltenham festivals.

In this captivating concert which celebrates her father’s legacy, as well as orchestral arrangements of Anoushka’s own eclectic output, she joins forces with Austrian percussionist, composer, Hang-player and Björk collaborator Manu Delago alongside conductor Duncan Ward and the luscious sounds of Britten Sinfonia’s strings, for an evening that will transport audiences on a wild and mystical ride.

Multi-Grammy-nominated sitar player and composer Anoushka Shankar is steeped in the classical Indian tradition her father Ravi Shankar brought to a worldwide audience. Today she is a singular, genre-defying artist across the realms of classical, contemporary, acoustic and electronic music with seven Grammy nominations and an Ivor Novello nomination for her soundtrack for the BBC adaptation of A Suitable Boy.
