Christmas Oratorio BWV 248 (Parts 1, 2, 3 and 6)
J S Bach’s Christmas Oratorio is one of the choral masterpieces of the Baroque era. Originally intended to be performed over six days between Christmas and Epiphany, Parts 1, 2, 3 and 6 explore the Birth of Jesus, the annunciation to the shepherds, and the adoration of the shepherds.
In what promises to be an intimate, thrilling live performance, Britten Sinfonia joins forces with the professional voices of Polyphony and renowned baroque choral director Stephen Layton for a spiritual and festive experience. A cast of stunning young Bach soloists will form the chorus, stepping out for Bach’s glorious solos and duets.
