Celebrated bass-baritone Sir Bryn Terfel performs alongside oboists Nicholas Daniel and Britten Sinfonia an evening of music close to his heart. The programme includes a varied and personal selection of songs – all of which are lifelong loves. The evening opens with Bach’s cantata No. 82 Ich habe genug, followed by Finzi’s song cycle Let us garlands bring, Op. 18, based on a collection of five songs from the plays of William Shakespeare, and a selection of songs by Ivor Novello arranged by Iain Farrington.
The musicians are also joined by Momentum Young Oboist Myfanwy Price who will take Nicholas Daniel’s place as oboist in selected songs*. To find out more about this new scheme, pioneered by Barbara Hannigan, visit the website here.
A limited number of tickets for attendance at the socially distanced concert will go on sale on Friday 11 September 2020. The concert will be livestreamed on the Barbican’s website. Tickets for the concert and livestream can be purchased here.
