Britten Sinfonia returns to Snape Maltings with Jacqueline Shave (Director/Violin) and Nicholas Daniel (Oboe) to join Andrew Watts (Countertenor) for an hour concert celebrating the chamber music of Handel, Bach, Tavener and Elgar. The programme opens with selections from Handel’s oratorio, Solomon and his opera Xerxes, followed by Bach’s Concerto for Violin and Oboe (BVW 1060). The premiere of Tavener’s La noche oscura is followed by Elgar’s Serenade for Strings to conclude the concert.
The musicians are joined by Momentum Young Oboist Lorraine Hart who will take Nicholas Daniel’s place as oboist in selected songs*. Lorraine has been mentored by Britten Sinfonia’s Principal Oboe Nicholas Daniel as part of this new scheme, pioneered by Barbara Hannigan. To find out more about Momentum, visit the website here.
