Britten Sinfonia Academy makes its debut performance at the popular Daylight Music Series in Union Chapel, alongside folk duo Stick in the Wheel. They will present an afternoon of folk melodies woven into classical counterpoint by some of the great romantic and modern composers, celebrating the traditions of a number of other musical cultures. Alongside music from across the globe including De Falla, Ligeti, Fauré and Mendelssohn there will also be the premiere of new piece Writhen by Franco-British composer Josephine Stephenson, exploring different cultural traditions of young women’s coming of age.
