Metamorphosen
Psycho (Film screening)
The shower scene from Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho is one of the most chilling and iconic moments in cinema history, celebrated both for its suggestive editing and its brilliant, nerve-jangling score by Bernard Hermann. But there are equally exciting riches elsewhere in the music – tense lullabies, clever tunes, and sleazy solos – as you’ll hear when the superb Britten Sinfonia performs during a live screening of the film. It is preceded by Strauss’ haunting elegy for war-ravaged Germany, Metamorphosen.
