Summary

In our inaugural concert as Saffron Hall’s brand new Resident Orchestra, Britten Sinfonia is joined by The Sixteen to open our 2016-17 season. A typically illuminating programme places a new work by James MacMillan in context with music from Tallis to Vaughan Williams.

Pre-concert event, 6.15pm: Composer James MacMillan joins the talented young musicians of Britten Sinfonia Academy on stage for a discussion and performance of his music.

Barbican Podcast: James MacMillan, the Scottish composer and conductor, whose Stabat Mater is featured in this concert speaks about his new work and life as a composer.
