C.O.M.P.O.S.E.R? C.O.M.P.O.S.E.R?! Where ARE we?!
Join Britten Sinfonia and presenter Duncan Chapman as they discover Planet Sound on an intergalactic musical adventure. This most mysterious and marvellous of planets is not about the landscapes you can see but the soundscapes you can hear!
Link Explorer Family Concert includes a 50 minute relaxed performance followed by the opportunity to meet the musicians of Britten Sinfonia and try out the music-making techniques explored in the concert in an hour of foyer activities after the show.
The narrated performance will intertwine elements of audience participation in which these techniques are explored with performances of fantastic repertoire by composers including Philip Glass, Louis Andriessen, Shostakovich and De Falla.
The relaxed, interactive atmosphere will offer a particular welcome to those for whom a traditional orchestral concert setting is challenging. Doors to the auditorium will be kept open and audience members who need to stand, move about, or vocalise, can feel free to do so with reasonable consideration for their fellow audience members.
We suggest that the 50 minutes performance is particularly well-suited to families with children aged 5 and above although younger children and the younger-at-heart are warmly welcome! Link Explorer Family Concert is a celebration of integration and bridging gaps in participation and enjoyment between those with special needs and those without.
