Join Britten Sinfonia and a team of academics and Handel specialists to explore the music, history and context of one of the festive period’s most enduring pieces of choral music.
The afternoon will be led by singer and choral conductor Tom Appleton and includes talks by Samir Savant (former Director of the London Handel Festival), Ruth Smith (author of Handel’s Oratorios and 18th Century Thought) and BBC Radio 3 presenter and early music specialist Hannah French, plus some of the musicians involved in the performance. There will even be an (optional) chance to rehearse and sing the Hallelujah Chorus alongside the performers as part of the rehearsal for the evening’s concert in the Saffron Hall auditorium.
