Mr Big’s KS1 Concert is based on the famous children’s book by Ed Vere. The concert tells the story of Mr Big, a lonely gorilla who doesn’t have any friends until he discovers the piano and joins a jazz band.
Presented by Hannah Conway, the concert includes well-known and accessible classical repertoire like Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons and music by Benjamin Britten, as well as favourites like the Hokey Cokey! In addition, specially written songs are also included and sung by the children. The concert is interactive throughout, and in addition to singing and actions, the story of Mr Big comes alive as Ed Vere, author of Mr Big illustrates the concert live on stage on a large screen.
The concert ties into the PSHE curriculum, touching on the subject of inclusion, loneliness and making friends in an appropriate way for KS1 children. The offer also includes a teachers twilight INSET session, teachers’ pack and CD. The concert is 1hr 15mins long including a 15 minute singing warm up.
