Allan Clayton is unwell and will not be singing in tonight’s concert. Cambridge Music Festival is delighted that Ben Johnson has agreed to stand in at short notice.

‘This is the best of me’, wrote Elgar at the end of his choral masterpiece. It tells of Gerontius, the Everyman, and his heartfelt expression of loss and hope in the face of death. This universal theme as expressed through Elgar’s sublime and dramatic music make any performance of this work a deeply moving experience.
