Britten Sinfonia has offered seven young composers from the Norfolk Music Hubs, and from Britten Sinfonia Academy’s Composer Hub the opportunity to receiving mentoring and guidance from professional musicians and composers. They have each been asked to write a folk-inspired string quartet and their pieces will be workshopped by players from Britten Sinfonia and Sir James MacMillan will lead the day, offering constructive feedback to each composer in an encouraging environment. Rather than a competition day, this is an opportunity for young composers to work alongside world class musicians to develop their skills.

Britten Sinfonia Academy are currently accepting applications to the Composer Hub for 2019-20 – apply here.

Britten Sinfonia offers Young OPUS2018 in partnership with Norfolk Music Hub.
