Brandenburg Concerto No.3
Cello Concerto in A minor
Concerto for cello and strings
Holberg Suite
Britten Sinfonia plays one of the best concertos ever written, Bach’s third Brandenburg, and Grieg’s charming Baroque-inspired dance suite.
Van der Heijden joins to play the solo part in two cello concertos written more than 300 years apart. Bach’s most famous son Carl Philipp Emanuel’s is full of drama and contrasts, while Tabakova mixes minimalist rhythms with slow and intense melodies inspired by Eastern European folk music to great effect.
