Summary
“Eloquent trumpet soloist” (The Times, 2021) Matilda Lloyd presents a launch concert for her debut disc with orchestra, releasing on CHANDOS in May 2023. In this programme, Matilda performs with a Britten Sinfonia string quintet and harpist, demonstrating the full emotional range of the trumpet through the expressive bel canto style of early 19th Century Italian opera and the virtuosic variations. Highlights include Rossini’s Prelude, Theme and Variations, which features the flugelhorn, and two songs by Pauline Viardot paired with a set of variations on one of her most famous roles: Bellini’s Norma.
