Britten Sinfonia with Stevens & Pound and Robert Macfarlane
The acclaimed nature and climate writer Robert Macfarlane narrates his own texts interspersing movements of contemporary folk duo Stevens & Pound’s exhilarating re-imagining of Holst’s Planets for orchestra with melodeon and percussion soloists. In the first half, Britten Sinfonia and Sinfonia Smith Square perform three sumptuously orchestrated pieces evoking different earthly places and landscapes, bridged by Stevens & Pound’s reworkings of the folk tunes used by Grainger and Britten.
