Martin Gwilym-Jones has performed throughout Europe and the USA including appearances on television and radio and at festivals such as Apeldoorn, Pablo Casals, Norfolk/Yale, Bowdoin, Prussia Cove Open Chamber Music and Keshet Eilon. In Chamber Music he has collaborated with many musicians including Philippe Graffin, Matt Haimowitz, Ernst Kovacic, and the pianist Jason Ridgway as part of a regular duo partnership.
Martin studied at Chetham’s School of Music, the Royal College of Music and Indiana University, receiving scholarships to each of these institutions. His main teachers were Maeve Broderick, Itzhak Rashkovsky and Miriam Fried. Martin has won numerous prizes and awards including the W.H. Reed Prize from the Royal College of Music, Sir James Caird Award, an English Speaking Union Fellowship, Welsh Arts Council Scholarship, Jerwood Foundation Scholarship and the Entrecasteaux International Chamber Music Competition.
Future engagements include solo recitals in the U.K. and Europe and a recording project with Jason Ridgway. Martin also regularly plays with many of Britain’s leading orchestras ranging from the Academy of St Martin in the Fields and Britten Sinfonia to the Orchestre Revolutionaire et Romantique.
