COMPLETE BACH KEYBOARD CONCERTOS RECORDING WITH MAHAN ESFAHANI

Over the course of three concert tours in the 2023-24 season, the acclaimed harpsichordist Mahan Esfahani and Britten Sinfonia have been performing the complete cycle of Bach's keyboard concertos, culminating in concerts at Saffron Hall on 8 June and London's Wigmore Hall on 12 June.

Together, we would love to record this complete concerto set, alongside the 5th Brandenburg Concerto, for Hyperion Records. This will be the crowning climax of Mahan’s acclaimed cycle of complete Bach keyboard music for Hyperion, which in total will amount to 22 hours of music!

A label like Hyperion is able to fund the production costs of the recording (venue hire, fees to the Producer and Engineer, harpsichord hire, editing the master and producing the CDs). But the financial realities of classical recordings nowadays are such that funds need to be raised to pay our Britten Sinfonia musicians and Mahan for this recording. Recording nine concertos in total will take around 40 hours, spanning across a week or more. The amount we therefore need to raise is £35,000.
