Beethoven 250 Appeal - Britten Sinfonia & Thomas Adès

Beethoven 250 Appeal

May 2019 marked the end of the concert performances of Britten Sinfonia’s monumental three year Beethoven Symphony Cycle with Thomas Adès, but our ambitions for this project did not end there.

In response to the incredible critical acclaim, Britten Sinfonia are now releasing the entire series of live recordings over the next two years to mark the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth. There will be three discs released, culminating in the release of a CD box set. We are confident that with your help this CD collection will become one of the most exciting interpretations of these iconic works ever recorded.

The Times said of the final ninth symphony:

“If you wished for music-making joyously uplifting, yet also red in tooth and claw, here it was.”

Having secured funding for the recording of the series, we are now raising the £50,000 required to support the additional artistic and production costs involved in getting the recordings released.

This is where the 250 Appeal comes in…

For the first CD release in Beethoven’s 250th anniversary year, we are asking you to donate £250 (or more) to contribute towards this immensely exciting project. For your support you will not only be part of one of the great recordings of these works, but by way of saying thank you, you will receive a copy of all three discs, and recognition of your support on our Britten Sinfonia website.
