PARTNERSHIPS
We regularly work in partnership to deliver deeper learning programmes in schools, engaging young people in topics such as local heritage, social justice, and climate change.
We believe in the power of working in partnership to increase aspiration and instill a passion for music in children and young people.
We work with a range of cultural organisations including Orchestras Live, 20Twenty Productions, Britten Pears Arts and Saffron Hall, combining local and industry expertise to produce remarkable experiences for young people.
We hope that through working collaboratively with regional partners and engaging with relevant themes, young people will be empowered to share their creative ideas and establish a connection with their local area.
Deaf Perspectives
In December 2023, we collaborated with Suffolk Archives and Orchestras Live with a focus on the deaf community in Bury St Edmunds.
The project was inspired by the life of Walton Burrell (1863-1944), who was profoundly deaf from birth and spent his whole life in the Bury St Edmunds area.
Working with Deaf flautist Ruth Montgomery, music leader James Redwood, we worked with the young people created new pieces of music to complement visual imagery combining Walton’s photography with their own.The series of workshops culminated with a concert on Monday 4th December at King Edward VI School, when the young participants performed alongside Britten Sinfonia in a celebration of their creativity coupled with orchestral music.
