Ben studied with William Pleeth and Raphael Wallfisch at the Guildhall School of Music in London, where he won the Toissaint Prize and the Chamber music prize.

As a founder member of the McCapra String Quartet, he gave performances at festivals across Europe, making recordings for BBC Radio 3 and the Decca and Conifer record companies.

He is a guest principal for many groups including Britten Sinfonia, Aurora Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, and the London Mozart Players. Ben is principal cellist with London Musici and the Rambert Dance Company. This involves performing everything from solo Bach Suites to staged improvised work with the dancers.

He has coached people of all ages, cellists, chamber musicians, youth orchestra and MBA students in the world of music making.

He regularly takes part in recordings of film soundtracks and albums. Artists include people like Robbie Williams and U2 or scores by Rob Lane and Hans Zimmer.

Ben has more recently recorded, edited, produced and broadcast strings for TV and Radio.
